Speaker Bio

Emma leads Cyber Security and Technology Strategy & Governance, globally across Vodafone. With her teams, she is responsible for security strategy and policy, security architecture and industry collaboration, engineering and operations of security technologies, securing new products and services and 24x7 cyber defence. Emma is passionate about security. Vodafone’s cyber security vision is a secure connected future for customers and society.


Her role also includes Technology Strategy & Governance, developing, maintaining and tracking delivery of technology strategy and ambitions. Emma was key in the creation of Vodafone’s first Board-level Technology Committee. The Committee supports the Board with fulfilling the technology strategy for the Group, including assessing risks and exploring new innovations for future growth.


In addition, Emma also holds a number of industry security advisory and programme committee roles:


• Independent advisor to a large retail company
• Member of the UK Cabinet Office National Cyber Advisory Board
• Chair of the European Round Table for Industry (ERT) CISO forum
• Member of Dell Technologies’ Security Advisory Board


Emma is active in her pursuit for inclusion for all. She believes people thrive when they can be themselves and feel that they belong. She has worked to develop a diverse security workforce and is Culture & LGBT+ sponsor for Technology in Vodafone.


Emma joined Vodafone from Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest Group where she was Chief Security Officer. In her role, she shaped and led an integrated security function including fraud prevention, information & cyber security, intelligence, physical security, business resilience and records management. Emma previously worked at Royal Mail and in these two companies she spent over a decade leading internal audit teams who specialised in security, technology, integration and risk management.
