Ayush Sharma is a visionary technology leader and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in pioneering breakthrough innovations in telecommunications, cloud computing, AI, and software-defined networking. Since joining StarHub in June 2022 as Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO), he has driven the company’s digital transformation and technology modernization. Under his leadership, StarHub has undergone a significant transformation, evolving its technology infrastructure into a Hybrid Multi-Cloud ecosystem with integrated connectivity, cybersecurity, and microservices-based content delivery. He has spearheaded the deployment of an AI-native digital stack, setting historic milestones in the telecom industry through successful brownfield transformation and operational excellence. As the head of Technology, Software, Data, AI Engineering, Product, and Hybrid Multi-Cloud Network Operations, Ayush oversees developing, managing, and optimizing cutting-edge platforms across Singapore and the ASEAN region. His work ensures seamless digital experiences, enhanced connectivity, and a secure, resilient network infrastructure. Before StarHub, Ayush held key leadership roles at Rakuten, Cisco, Ericsson, and Huawei, where he played a pivotal role in developing and deploying next-generation technologies across more than 30 global fixed, satellite, mobile, and cloud networks. He has been at the forefront of multiple world-first innovations, including:
•The world’s first Wi-Fi calling platform.
•The first router deployed in outer space.
•The first commercial-grade Software Defined Networking (SDN) controller.
•Leading one of the industry’s most significant technology adoption programs, drivingthe first brownfield telco-to-technology company transformation.
Beyond corporate leadership, Ayush is a successful entrepreneur and the creator of the “Latency-as-a-Service” architecture and algorithms. This innovation enabled MotoJeannie, a start-up, to provide enterprise customers with application intent-driven, latency-sensitive connectivity, content, and cybersecurity services.
A recognized thought leader, Ayush actively shapes industry standards and open-source initiatives as a founding board member of several global technology movements, including the Open Networking Foundation.
Ayush holds a Master of Science in Data Communications from Brunel University London and has completed the Stanford Executive Management Program. His relentless pursuit of innovation continues to redefine the future of telecommunications and digital ecosystems.
