Speaker Bio

Anna Heim is Sesamers’ fractional editor in chief and a freelance writer for publications including Fortune and TechCrunch. Her latest work for TechCrunch mostly focuses on Europe, and particularly on the rise of defense, security and resilience tech in the region. She also writes TechCrunch’s Startups Weekly newsletter, rounding up startup news every Friday.


Fluent in multiple languages including French, English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, she brings a global perspective to her work, highlighting underrepresented regions and emerging trends.


Anna often focuses on identifying and explaining transformative waves such as the rise of alternative investments, API-first startups, federated computing, synthetic data, and the democratization of data analytics. 


She also highlights tech that has the potential to benefit society, for example by expanding healthcare access or fostering accessibility through innovation.


A Sciences Po Paris alum, Anna started her career in the film & VOD business before joining The Next Web in 2011, where she covered Latin America’s emerging startup scene and other tech & media news. 


She then spent several years in the edtech space, including at her own startup, before helping run a community and event series for data professionals, coordinating its content strategy, conference planning and meetups.


Now well-versed in all facets of events, Anna has moderated panels and conducted onstage interviews at industry gatherings of all sizes, including major tech conferences such as TechCrunch Disrupt, 4YFN, South Summit, TNW Conference, VivaTech, and many more.
