Session Description

As the demand for 5G Massive IoT, including LTE-M and NB-IoT continues to grow and scale up, the demand for geographical coverage using multiple bearers increases. We now see network technologies, Public, Private, Passive and Satellite, linking together to provide extensive coverage to meet customer IoT needs. We need to ensure that we have the right enablers to provide seamless connectivity regardless of bearer meeting service availability, identity and security, operational management of devices for customer applications.

Emerging also in some markets will be pioneers of RedCap for IoT on the road to fully fledged 5G. Additionally, the new GSMA IoT SIM specification has launched which is specifically designed to meet the requirements of end customers. There is a growing need for automating Operations and Data management and opportunities now arise for AI to play a role in IoT to create value that will save time and money.

Agenda

09:00-09:05 - 5G IoT Summit Welcome and Introduction - Richard Cockle, Head of GSMA Foundry and Connected Industries, GSMA, Shantal Wilson, Marketing Communications Manager, GSMA

09:05-09:20eSIM technology will revolutionize manufacturing! - Simon Wakely, GVP, Global Head of Sales, Giesecke+Devrient

The IoT market has reached explosive momentum, driving new possibilities for manufacturing enterprises to innovate and provide a better service for their customers. To achieve this goal, IoT solutions must be deployed seamlessly across diverse environments, leveraging multiple networks while managing security, identity and connectivity. Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), as a front-runner in all these areas and a pioneer in eSIM technology across different standards, is ideally placed to explain how eSIM for IoT is making the manufacturing industry simpler, smarter, and more flexible than ever before.

In this keynote, Simon Wakely, GVP, Global Head of Sales at G+D, will unveil how the latest developments in eSIM technology are revolutionizing IoT in the manufacturing industry, based on G+D’s market-leading experience including active delivery of SGP.32-enabled SIM operating systems and successful development of a pre-standardized SGP.42 solution.

Attendees will gain an understanding of how new technologies based on these standards enable connection and management of IoT devices straight out of the box, allowing unprecedented scalability by streamlining device deployment, improving user experience and driving cost effective new business models.

09:20-09:35The Global IoT Picture: Strategies, eSIM Adoption, and Satellite Capability -Shamik Basu, Vice President of Strategic Connectivity, Verizon

The presentation will discuss the importance of IoT connectivity and capability that moves across international borders. Beginning with an analysis of current IoT strategies and the growing traction of eSIM technology within both IoT and private wireless deployments across international markets, the presentation will then expand into the burgeoning field of satellite-based IoT solutions.

This segment will explore satellite technology’s potential to transform and broaden IoT connectivity, particularly in extending its reach to remote regions of the world and unlocking new possibilities for global industries.

09:35-09:50GSMA Intelligence IoT Enterprise SurveyChristina Patsioura, Lead Analyst, IoT & Enterprise Research, GSMAi

09:50-10:05Getting ready for Ambient IoT Release 19 – How linking food, medicine and clothing to AI will change the Telco business foreverSteve Statler, Writer, Podcaster & CMO, Wiliot

The Ambient IoT functionality coming to 5G Advanced represents a huge challenge, and opportunity for the industry. The use of battery-free postage-stamp sized sensors that cost less 30c is already scaling to hundreds of millions of units in the world of Bluetooth. Now it’s on its way to the Wi-Fi standard (802.11bp) and thanks to a push from China, is likely to be a major catalyst for change in the 3GPP domain.

Wiliot is the world leader in ambient IoT, supplying some of the largest retailers and postal carriers in the world with this successor to RFID.

In this session Steve will demonstrate AI/LLM technology applied to supply chains in real time using ambient IoT, discuss the implications for telcos, and make recommendations on how to prepare.

10:05-10:20Navigating Cyber resilience in the expanding IoT landscapeGregory Laloy, Head of IoT Product Line, Thales

The connected world keeps on growing and so are the needs for protection against evolving cyber threats and flexible connectivity. We will analyze the impact of regulations such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act and US Cyber Trust Mark on the IoT ecosystem, and share insights on how enterprises see 5G cellular IoT playing a crucial role in this expansion.

We will discuss why an effective lifecycle management has become critical for massive IoT deployments to ensure efficiency and resilience over time.

Join us to learn how SGP.32 based connectivity combined with a security-first approach will create a more resilient and reliable IoT ecosystem
